Practice with caution to avoid injury
The backward breakfall is presented at a beginner-level. While tucking the chin, the arms should extend out to the side at a downward angle upon impact, disbursing pressure evenly. As the body rolls slightly back the arms should collapse to a guarded position. The practitioner should rock forward returning to an upright position.
The breakfall system is used to teach the beginner how to reduce injury when falling. Once the core understanding of the technique is achieved, it evolves with the practitioner's understanding to include additional application.
